Bio

My name is Ryan Wassink and I’m primarily a middle school technology teacher in Corning, NY. I also teach online computer programming courses through the AccelerateU Consortium and have been considering starting my own online ed program for private and/or home-schooled learners.
The name Pedagology is half Pedagogy and half Technology. I’m going to morph the definitions together to make it mean “The study of learning via the use of appropriate (often state-of-the-art) tools, techniques, systems, and methods”. My passion specifically focuses on education as a system – I enjoy working with custodians, cafeteria staff, nurses, teachers, administrators, bus drivers, coordinators, etc so that I can better understand the synergistic nature of the system that I’m a part of. Based on my observations I firmly believe that properly-configured technological systems can greatly increase the productivity of everyone in the school, which is why I am such an advocate for Educational Technology.
Other than working in the education field I love working with animals, restoring old tractors and farm equipment, being in the great outdoors, playing in real estate, and traveling. I’m one of those people who wants to do as much as possible…
